New Website Aims to Rescue Hoteliers from the Internet Marketing Maze

A new website aimed at helping the hospitality industry to maximise their use of the Internet was launched this week as hoteliers continue to feel the effects of the new technology. Hotel Sales Online ( http://www.hotelsalesonline.com ) gives hoteliers practical information and instruction on how to navigate the maze of online hotel and travel marketing and sales that has become a vitally important part of the hotel business. The new site offers news, articles, reviews, 'how to' instructions and other help for those faced with the Internet's revolutionary effect on the travel and hospitality industry.

According to travel industry researcher PhocusWright, last year 1 in 12 hotel rooms were booked online, and this is expected to rise to 1 in 5 by next year. But hoteliers are finding it difficult to take advantage of this new distribution channel with the result that a variety of 3rd-party intermediaries have placed themselves between hoteliers and their customers - collecting a commission on each reservation processed and forcing room prices and revenues down. Unable to ignore the number of bookings that come from the Internet, hoteliers are finding themselves trapped in a situation in which they are losing control of their prices and paying an increasing part of their revenues to these intermediaries.

Hotel Sales Online helps hoteliers by "informing, empowering and motivating them to market and sell their hotel rooms on the Internet". By taking charge of their own Internet marketing and sales hoteliers can increase the amount of Internet business they do directly with their customers, cutting out the middlemen and their commissions. While offering a variety of Internet marketing and sales services, the Hotel Sales Online website focuses primarily on educating and informing hoteliers about the Internet as a distribution channel and how to use it.

Hotel Sales Online is the brainchild of Internet developer Graham Caswell, who combines experience in the hospitality industry with a more recent career in website design and Internet marketing, mostly for the hospitality industry. Hotel Sales Online is based in the Republic of Ireland.
